It’s Salada, Not Salidad!

I have been enjoying your magazine for I don’t know how long now, but its been a long time. I was excited to read coverage about the Baja 1000 since I was unable to attend the event due to finals at SDSU (San Diego State University). I just graduated from the Mechanical Engineering School in May. When I started reading Chris Collard’s Got Baja? I knew I could not wait to read it. As I started, he mentioned my hometown Calexico, and my romping grounds, the Laguna Salada where I have broken an axle or two on my old ’85 4x4 Ranger; only to have him spell it Laguna Salidad. I know it’s a typo, and for your information, there are not that many peddlers on the streets of Mexicali. They were only out because of the 1000, but that’s how rumors and misconceptions begin. Anyway I love the mag and I can’t wait until the new one comes out. Keep up the good work. Enclosed you’ll find a pic of my ugly truck which I plan to transform into a SCORE Class 7S racer soon.

And Now For Something Competely Different

Congrats to ORA for a fine magazine. I read each issue cover-to-cover and really enjoy the articles as most of them apply to off-roading in general and are not biased to a specific vehicle or type. My favorite section is the Backcountry Adventures. I could plan my vacations around that section alone. Here is a picture of my rig. It’s a 1987 Subaru GL with dual range 4WD. Mods include a 4-inch OZified lift, Toyota rims and 28” TSL Super Swampers giving it 13 inches of ground clearance. It’s just too fun to go wheeling with Jeeps and trucks... in a STATION WAGON. Thanks again for the great magazine.

Doesn’t Understand The Concept Of “Lowered”
Great Mag. I just recently subscribed! I can’t believe it is free. I noticed something in your magazine. You had an ad for lowering kits with a lowered pavement pounder pictured. What was the deal with that, after all isn’t this a 4x4 magazine and lift kits? Anyway keep up the good work.

Allen — Well, actually ORA is an off-roading, truck, SUV, sport vehicle, outdoor motorsports magazine that focus’ on 4x4s and lifts. However, a lot of our readers own more than one truck or SUV for different recreational purposes such as towing their boats or vacation trailers and some like their “street-version” 4x4 vehicles dropped down a bit. — D.S.
