Buddie Makes The Book

I like reading your magazine and all the readers’ rides. Just wanted to see if I would make the book with my 2002 Wrangler. In this picture it has a 4” Superlift kit, 31x11.50 Super Swamper TSLs, K&N air filter, custom made kick panels I made out of 1/8” diamond plate. Thanks for the awesome magazine... tread lightly!

Superman Causes Alarm!

All right, first, let me say I’m a loyal reader and look forward to receiving your magazine every month. A lot of the rides aren’t really my style (show trucks), but most of them are at least pretty well done. So, it struck me with great surprise and concern when I was reading the article on the “Superman Jeep”. It all looked great until I saw the last picture — is that a piece of two inch tubing welded vertically to compensate for the draglink angle? Sweet merciful crap! That’s gotta be even more dangerous than the crappy “z link” draglinks that show trucks seem to always have. With all due respect (everything else looks great on it), if I’m ever in Florida and see that jeep coming down the road, I’m heading the other way fast! I’m not looking for a correction or oops or anything like that in your magazine, I just hope that in the future you’ll feature trucks that are built more for usefulness and ruggedness instead of the bling factor.

For all you Gearheads that wrote in about this photo, you are absolutely right. This is not the correct set up for this or any steering system. Rob, the owner of Superman Jeep admits that, and says that it was only done that way as a temporary solution during the buildup to get it to the paint shop etc. He was waiting for the parts to come in for the conversion. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to have it done in time for the photo shoot due to our photographer’s tight travel schedule. Our apologies, we should not have shot this story until the buildup was complete. We appreciate those who wrote to let us know about it and appreciate their sense of urgency in the name of safe vehicle control.

Rebuttal To An Offended Reader

Hi there! I just wanted to comment on the “offended reader” in the December issue’s Letters and Stuff. How P/C do you have to get so as to not offend anyone? I mean come on. I suppose by referring to a junker I have sitting in the driveway as “the old girl” or “she’s a beaut” would tick off some “chick” who thinks that it’s degrading to “broads” in some way. Come on people lighten up just a little. That’s just my thoughts on it.

Thanks, Matt Wynne — Via email

Rex & Orlando Gives Bjorn A Big Hand

I thought I’d send you guys a picture of the truck that 4 Wheel Parts had a big hand in helping me build. Rex at your Orlando location talked with me, and helped me pick out the perfect lift, wheels, and tires to stick under my Super Duty. This beast has gotten me plenty of looks and even more good times, including the install with some buddies and me. Just wanted to show what ONE visit to your store can yield.
