Our Jeep Rubicon Unlimited Giveaway Project gets Underway

story and photo by Bruce Smith

There are a lot of candidates one could choose to build into the ultimate off-road adventurer’s dream ride. This year the vehicle manufacturers have flooded us with great new 4x4s in just about every size and configuration — any one of which would make a great project platform.

But the one that caught our attention for being the perfect pet project is the 2005 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited. Jeeps have always been the American adventurer’s vehicle of choice.

The Jeep off-road heritage is well documented and undisputed. Once people got their hands on them after World War II, Jeeps became the key to the door that opened into a whole new world of outdoor fun and backroads adventure. If you couldn’t get there in a Jeep, then you were hiking.

That legendary off-road ability, which has always been the Jeep hallmark, is taken to an unprecedented level with the introduction of the 2005 Rubicon Unlimited.

State-of-the-art air-actuated locking differentials front and rear, heavy duty Dana 44 axles, deeply geared low-range transfer case, four-wheel disc brakes and 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler mud tires setup the platform for unsurpassed off-road performance.

Add the Unlimited Rubicon’s 10-inch longer wheelbase, the 190 hp from the durable in-line six, the choice of either the 4-speed automatic or slick six-speed manual transmissions, and you have the perfect formula for fun and adventure.

What makes the Rubicon Unlimited even more appealing is the aftermarket is bursting with parts and accessories that allow you to tailor a Jeep for any individual’s tastes and needs. In fact, of all the 4x4s, none have as many accessories, upgrade parts and dedicated sources for those items than Jeeps.

Which brings us back to why we choose the Jeep Rubicon Unlimited as our newest addition to our short list of project vehicles: It’s the ultimate base vehicle for a really special off-road adventurer’s ride.

Even cooler is we’ll be giving this vehicle away when the upgrades have been completed. So stay tuned. There’s a lot to see and do when you have a Rubicon Unlimited and the desire for great off-road adventures.

IPERM-O-SEAL is a non-toxic mixture of seven organic ingredients designed to permanently seal holes and cracks in radiators, water jackets, and cylinder heads. Just pour PERM-O-SEAL into the radiator while the engine is running. It speeds through the water channels, seeks out holes, and swells shut as soon as it comes in contact with air (on the other side of the hole). It will not redissolve, and draining or flushing will not affect the seal. JB WELD Company offers the most durable cold weld products available.
